Ted Talk- Happiness

In his Ted Talk “Are we Happier When We Stay in the moment.” Matt Killingworth explains human happiness.  He went on to tell the listeners that we're often happiest when we're lost in the moment. I think more than anything else people want happiness. He went on to describe that people’s minds wander. Forty-seven percent of the time, people are thinking about something other than what they’re currently doing. The lesson in his Ted talk isn’t that we should stop mind wandering entirely. Some degree of mind wandering is probably unavoidable. These results do suggest that mind wandering less often could improve the quality of our lives.

My reaction to this ted talk is that he did a good job talking about how one can be happier when staying in the moment. How to stay in the moment? Bring the attention back to the breath or other bodily sensations as you go about your day. What he said I believe is true.  Every time I think of going to work I become  unhappy but when I'm living in the moment I am happy. I was filled with happiness after reading this ted talk. This Ted talk made me realize that I was crazy from thinking about many unpleasant situations instead of enjoying and making the most of life in the moment.
