Puppy Mills

The topic I chose to do for this essay is why puppy mills are bad. What I already know about this topic is that the cute puppies for sale at malls and other places were probably bred from dogs that were in kennels that don’t get to play or go outside. These dogs are usually kept in kennels with wire flooring which isn’t good for their paws or legs. These dogs are crammed in here uncomfortable with no space. This isn’t a good environment for puppies to grow up. They need love and attention and this isn’t where they are going to find it.

What I hope to find out about this topic is how to help stop puppy mills. I want to find out how I can protect puppies against going to puppy mills. How I can take an active role in helping solve this problem.

Compare/Contrast

I wrote my compare/contrast essay on cats vs dogs. I originally was going to write about big dogs vs small dogs but I couldn't find much research. I decided to just compare dogs and cats. There are so many similarities that I brought up. My catchy title is Everybody loves pets. This was actually fun to write about since I love animals.

Ted Talk- Happiness

In his Ted Talk “Are we Happier When We Stay in the moment.” Matt Killingworth explains human happiness.  He went on to tell the listeners that we're often happiest when we're lost in the moment. I think more than anything else people want happiness. He went on to describe that people’s minds wander. Forty-seven percent of the time, people are thinking about something other than what they’re currently doing. The lesson in his Ted talk isn’t that we should stop mind wandering entirely. Some degree of mind wandering is probably unavoidable. These results do suggest that mind wandering less often could improve the quality of our lives.

My reaction to this ted talk is that he did a good job talking about how one can be happier when staying in the moment. How to stay in the moment? Bring the attention back to the breath or other bodily sensations as you go about your day. What he said I believe is true.  Every time I think of going to work I become  unhappy but when I'm living in the moment I am happy. I was filled with happiness after reading this ted talk. This Ted talk made me realize that I was crazy from thinking about many unpleasant situations instead of enjoying and making the most of life in the moment.
